Good Riddance, 2020!

We all have our own unique way of celebrating New Year’s – whether it’s being around family, playing music with friends, going to church, or just simply eating traditional food. Some people play music and dance the night away or rock the old year away and bring in the New Year. I like making people smile whether it’s telling a joke or just simply give words of encouragement so,

What’s the luckiest band to listen to on New Year’s Day? Black-Eyed Peas.

Did it make you smile? Well it was worth a try.

I asked Mrs. Purcell how she celebrates her New Year’s and she said: “I will be playing guitar and rocking out tonight (New Year’s Eve). Tomorrow (New Year’s) we will have the traditional hog jowl, collards and black eyed peas for dinner. I don’t make resolutions. I just try to be a good Christian everyday. I also asked Mrs. Smoot how she celebrates her New Year’s and she said: “We usually just stay around the house and watch the ball drop and I usually try to eat a special meal on New Year’s Day.”

For me, my family celebrates New Year’s in a unique way. My grandma is the soul of my family. She makes the dinner, she brings us together; she does everything. We all laugh and have fun while we wait for my grandma to finish cooking. We also play games like board games, video games etc. My baby cousins be trying to join in on the fun. The main part for me is watching my family be happy with everything that happened over the years. I love seeing my family happy and smiling; it’s been a long time since I saw my family like that. For this New Year’s Eve we was at church just having fun and enjoying everybody’s company, and for New Year’s we celebrated of course along with eating some delicious food.

To start the New Year off just be yourself no matter what; it doesn’t matter what people think there’s only one of you. One unique you. If anyone says otherwise, then they’re just jealous. You’ve got to be doing something right in order for someone to dislike you or hate you. Never give up no matter how hard times get because in the end it will all be worth it. Happy New Year’s. Goodbye 2020 no regrets, and hello 2021 to a new start, and a new beginning may the future be bright.
