Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is a great asset to our community; this year they are building a house for some Danville residents in need. Kim Baldrige says, “We do have a house that will be completed and turned over to the partner family by Christmas this year.  Our build schedule was the same last year.  As we finished and turned over a house last year at this time of year.” Every partner family helps build their home by putting in “sweat equity”.  They have to put in 200-500 hours, depending on the number of family members. They quality based on the following criteria:

  • Ability to pay a mortgage at no-interest
  • Need (specific to unsafe current living conditions, overcrowding, etc.)
  • Willingness to partner (sweat equity)

She also added, “We decorate a Christmas tree in our ReStore, located at 2805 Riverside Drive.  The ornaments on the tree focus on building supplies and also have pictures of our partner family members.  We also set up a mantle with a fireplace to present a living room type setting.”

Thank you Habitat for Humanity!
